D.C.'s  Deli

GENERAL STORE
At Dancyville Grocery, located on Highway 76, just west of Fayette County, you can buy cheese and crackers and groceries and an assortment of other goods. It's the last of four grocery stores in Dancyville where owner D.C. Crawford waits on customers Beverly Martin, Rachel Porter and Caln Porter. The store a tin roof and tin sides and a concrete pad out front where one gas pump serves the needs of motorists. Crawford, 77, a former farmer, operated cotton gins at Stanton and Dancyville 25 years. He's owned the store 10 years. "There's been a little store on this corner 40 years. You wouldn't believe it but Dancyville had a college once. It was the Dancyville Female Academy, and run by a Professor Tanner who was from Texas. He built a house here, the same house where I was born and raised. He's buried in the local cemetery. Some of his people have come all the way from Texas to see the old house.
